Sony Producer Magazine features The Scanner film

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

Sony’s superb magazine ‘Producer‘ has featured The Scanner, a film I shot a little while ago which won at the Sheffield Doc Fest 2010.  Given the reputation of the brand and their magazine, it’s humbling to be selected to be mentioned by them.

The Scanner was directed by Ed McGown and depicted the hard work of Dr Alastair Garfield and Kate McAllister into research for Prader Willi Syndrome. You can watch the film here.

I shot the film on the Sony Ex1, Letus 35mm adapter and Nikon Primes.

Eloping to Gretna Green (but with a full crew)

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Last minute we decided to elope to Gretna Green. Many have done it before, but rather than taking a young blushing bride I took my gorgeous camera, not to mention dashing soundman and glamorous producer.

Despite signal failures, we made it having stood all the way to Carlisle and jamming our kit in anywhere it would fit. The film is being edited and will soon be released by Google.

Thanks to all the brides in the day who let us shoot and to the Gretna Wedding Bureau too.

Shot the main interview on 35mm as usual and despite the small room and lack of depth, the Nikkor 80mm f/1.8 lends a beautiful look and depth to the shot. Diva and Dedos finished it off and very happy with the result.
