In April 2010 the Gurkha Welfare Trust held an evening in Salisbury for supporters of the  Trust’s work and Joanna Lumley was there to lend her support and open the exhibition of the retired WWII Gurkha photographs.

Robert’s touring exhibition of 20 portraits which were shot in Nepal were on display for the evening before moving on the next day to a gallery in Salisbury for a couple of months.

The photographs were taken in Nepal in 2008 during a commission by the Gurkha Welfare Trust to document the lives of the retired Gurkhas and their familes in the remote Himalayan villages in Nepal.  In total 5 weeks on location and incredible amounts of planning went into finding the soldiers, trekking on foot to find them (hoping that they would be in when arriving) and capturing their spirit.

The collection of 20 portraits is available to spaces around the UK so if you are interested in hosting the exhibition please contact me to discuss possible dates.  There are currently 20 pieces in the exhibition, all 18×12″ framed prints onto exhibition grade Cibachrome-style paper.  All pictures are supplied with a biography of the individual in the picture including their personal and professional profile.
