Wednesday, March 14th, 2012King’s Cross Station in London has undergone significant renovations with the addition of a new Western Concourse. I was lucky enough to be asked to DP the film to launch the new station.
We spent a week in and around King’s Cross station shooting a new arts documentary about the station, directed by Ed McGown. The finished film was shown at the opening of the new station with Kevin McCloud and Boris Johnson among others.
The film was shot on the Canon 5D and 7D. Timelapses sequences done with the eMotimo and Dynamic Perception MX2 dolly. The final film includes macro photography, timelapeses, CGI and crane shots to bring the structure alive.
Directed by Ed McGown, edited by Jon Coutts and graded by Jack Jones. Jack did a superb job on the grade; stripping out the standard ‘look’ which all Canons have and giving it something a little more independent.
Ed’s written a beautiful script and together with Jon hav given it a lovely arts documentary feel.
